PROLOGUE
Origins of CEM
The Center for Educational Measurement, Inc. traces its roots to a series of consultation meetings and conferences between the Fund for Assistance to Private Education (FAPE) and the educational sector in the 1970s.

1978
Foundation
Dr. Abraham I. Felipe became the 1st CEM President. CEM was officially launched on September 1, 1978 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, marking the beginning of educational measurement excellence in the country.

1979
International Recognition
CEM became an affiliate member of the International Association for Educational Assessment (IAEA), establishing its presence in the global educational assessment community and bringing international standards to Philippine education.

1980
First Major Tests
Released the first locally-developed Nursing Aptitude Test (NAT) and developed Diagnostic Tests for 1st and 2nd year high school students, pioneering standardized assessment tools specifically designed for Filipino students.

NMAT Launch
Administered the first National Medical Admission Test (NMAT), which became a crucial requirement for medical school admission in the Philippines, setting new standards for healthcare education entrance assessment.

New Leadership
Dr. Leticia M. Asuzano became the 2nd CEM President, ushering in a new era of innovation and expansion in educational assessment while maintaining the organization's commitment to excellence.

Hosted the First Asia-Pacific Conference on Educational Assessment, positioning CEM as a leader in the region and fostering international collaboration in assessment practices and research.

Dr. Lenore de la Llana-Decenteceo became the 3rd CEM President, continuing the tradition of excellence in educational measurement and assessment while introducing modern methodologies.

Digital Era

Adapting to Change
